RELIGIOUS STUDIES AND GSU62
One of the great things about Georgia State University is there are so many opportunities for student success. One of the lesser-known programs is the GSU62 program, which allows individuals aged 62 and older to enroll in classes and pursue a degree for little to no cost.
The Department of Religious Studies takes seriously Georgia State University’s commitment to educating the citizens of Georgia, including our mission to provide “an outstanding education and exceptional support for students from all backgrounds.”
With this in mind, we invite community members eligible for the GSU-62 program to consider applying to our BA or MA programs. Several GSU-62 students have earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Religious Studies through our department, and we welcome potential applicants to consider learning about the study of religions and the religions of the world with us!

It normally takes from four to six weeks to process a file, depending on when the application and documentation are received. The sooner everything arrives, the sooner we can process the file and make a decision.
Review the information on our Next Steps for Accepted Students page.
Once accepted, you may not register until the first day of late registration.
GSU-62 students have the option to opt out of the program if they wish to register prior to Late Registration. Students who opt-out will be assessed regular tuition and fees and will not be covered by the waiver. View the semester calendar for late registration dates.
For a detailed walk-thru of the registration process, view the Self Service Student Registration Demo.
Freshman or transfer students with fewer than 90 hours are advised by the Student Advisement Office; the Office of Academic Advisement in each of the academic colleges counsels applicants with 90 or more transferrable hours; all academic assistance at the graduate level comes from the graduate advisors in each graduate college. Postbaccalaureate applicants, as they are not degree-seeking, do not receive academic advisement. Once you are accepted as an undergraduate student, a “Next Step” letter will be sent which will include information on advisement.
